The Goal: Ramp to win with Big Gramma Tala.
But the real MVP of Into the Inklands' ramp game is now my favorite card of the whole set: Mama Odie - Mystical Maven who adds "put the top card of your deck in your inkwell" to any songs you play (not just sing!).
We don't have to work very heard to make this pay off since we were going to run the great Friends on the Other Side, One Jump Ahead, and Let It Go so whether or not Odie was in the list. But more importantly, she can provide a way to generate extra ink in the late game to trigger Big Gramma Tala.
Now the question for any hyper-ramp deck is how to leverage huge amounts of ink to win the game. My first attempt tried Ruby's top-end finishers, but I didn't like the inconsistency of draw without Hiram/items.
Instead, this version takes advantage of Amethyst's recursive characters like Madam Mim - Snake and - Fox. This gives us more early game options to slow down opponents as well as a variety of swarming characters in the late game.
Some Choice notes:
- I changed Develop your Brain out for It Calls Me as a deck-thinning cantrip that increases the explosiveness of the ramp by triggering Mama Odies.
